Northwest FCU Recognized for Volunteerism and Community Service

Herndon, Va. (November 9, 2020) Northwest Federal Credit Union has been named Outstanding Corporation in this year’s Virginia Governor’s Volunteerism and Community Service Awards. The ten winners, which include organizations, businesses and individual volunteers, are recognized for significantly contributing to the life and welfare of the Commonwealth and its citizens.

Northwest Federal Credit Union has made a strong commitment to volunteerism and giving back to the community, including a community service initiative called “Transforming Lives Through Acts of We.” Each staff member receives 24 paid volunteer hours per year, and Northwest Federal partners with many local organizations to provide numerous opportunities for employees to volunteer and serve. In 2019, employees volunteered more than 9,200 hours and Northwest Federal donated more than $120,000 to their community partners.
