Jackson, MI – On October 27, the Jackson-based American 1 Credit Union received their award for Outstanding Credit Union of the Year for credit unions of their asset size from the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL).

Outstanding Credit Union of the Year award winners are selected based on achievement in community involvement and service, financial strength and performance, and advocacy and public relations. Finalists are reviewed by the MCUL Awards Committee, who propose the winners to the MCUL Board of Directors to approve.

“American 1 is honored to receive this award and be recognized for the work that we’re doing. Everything we do starts with our members, without whom we would not exist, and our incredible team of people who serve our members,” shared Martha Fuerstenau, President/CEO of American 1 Credit Union. “I appreciate the resiliency of our team and our members, not only for our efforts last year but for our continued efforts throughout 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic. Our values, work ethic, and positive attitude helped sustain us during these tough times.”

According to the MCUL website, “The MCUL awards celebrate the highest accomplishments of the Michigan credit union community over the past year. Awards recognize industry innovation, chapter effectiveness, community leadership and many other accomplishments.”
