ABNB Federal Credit Unionis pleased to announce that it will be donating over $84,000 to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters through the Children's Miracle Network from the proceeds of its 10th Annual Fishing Fest. This year, more money was raised than any other year. Nearly 130 participants along with top local radio personalities gathered on June 21 for a half day's fishing excursion out of Rudee Inlet, followed by a barbecueluncheon. In addition, every year at Fishing Fest, ABNB hosts a CHKD Champion child and their family. This year's CHKD Champion was Jesse Grace H., whose story really touched us all. Jesse Grace was just 2 years old when she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a virulent cancer that attacks the nervous system. CHKD offered a promising new therapy that manipulates the bodys immune system into attacking and killing the cancer cells. After two years of ongoing treatment, Jesse continues to receive treatment and is enjoying her life as a loving, playful 4-year-old, seemingly unaffected by all that she's been through. Her smile could light up a room and is truly an inspiration. It was an honor to have her at the event, as she is a true example of what an impact CHKD makes on the community and the families they serve. "I am honored and proud to be involved not only because I am an ABNB employee but because my family is one of the many thousands in the area that have had children treated by CHKD." said Larry Parker, Fishing Fest chairperson and ABNB Vice President of Technology. "The Fishing Fest provides a kid friendly event that is fun for all and benefits a vital community treasure like CHKD and the families benefiting from the care and services that it provides to all who need it. We thank all our business partners, employees, and members whose work and donations make this such a successful event for such a worthy cause." For over 50 years ABNB has maintained a commitment to providing quality products and services along with professional and personal service to its members. With thirteen branches and numerous service centers, ABNB currently serves more than 46,000 members and is one of the largest home-based financial institutions in the Hampton Roads area.
