Genisys Credit Union Continues to Give Back to Community
October 8, 2020
Auburn Hills, MI. - Oct. 8, 2020 - Throughout COVID-19, Genisys Credit Union has continued to support and give back to our communities, as well as continue to grow while providing stable, uninterrupted services to their members. Since March, the credit union has watched their Mortgage business skyrocket, has hired 50 new team members in all areas of the organization, and has helped its communities pivot in a new direction with community events.
“As we navigate through times of uncertainty, it is imperative that Genisys continues to assist our members, staff, and communities in whatever way they may need,” said Jackie Buchanan, President & CEO of Genisys Credit Union.
As interest rates have dropped to historic lows, the Genisys Mortgage Team has been helping members meet their mortgage needs quickly with dedicated Mortgage Consultants throughout the process and safely by offering alternative closing options. “Whether you are a first-time home buyer, looking to buy a vacation home, or taking out equity on an existing home, mortgages and home loans are not a one-size-fits-all type of financing,” said James Fagan, Vice President of Real Estate Lending. “The Genisys Mortgage Team will tailor a product and rate to meet your needs and help you reach your home owning or remodeling goals.”
People helping people. Each year, in addition to the financial support provided by Genisys, their team members contribute nearly 5,000 volunteer hours at the over 1,200 Genisys sponsored community events. At the beginning of 2020, the credit union sponsored the Rainbow Connect Movie Marathon, Plymouth Ice Festival, Walk for Warmth for Oakland and Macomb counties, and more before COVID-19.
Now as community organizations navigate through changes due to state restrictions, Genisys is continuing to help their community partners through financial and marketing support. A few events they’ve supported are Art Month with the Rochester Downtown Development Authority to benefit Paint Creek Center for the Arts due to the cancellation of Arts & Apples, adapting from a movies in the park to a drive in series with the Clarkston Chamber of Commerce, and Parking Lot Picassos with Sterling Heights Parks & Recreation that brought parking spaces to life with chalk art.
In addition, the credit union has an annual employee giving campaign in which proceeds go towards the United Way, which focuses on education, income and health across communities globally and Lighthouse of Oakland County, which works to build a community to end homelessness.
And as an “Employer of Choice”, Genisys wouldn’t be able to do any of this without their team. In 2019, the credit union was voted a Detroit Free Press Top Workplace for the 12th year in a row, as well as a Best & Brightest Place to Work in Metro Detroit. “Banks and credit unions are deemed ‘essential’ during this crisis and I want to thank the Genisys team for showing up each and every day to serve our members,” said Buchanan.
