SOUTH BEND, Ind. – United Federal Credit Union was proud to donate $1,000 to Pet Refuge in South Bend to help the facility continue their work of taking care of pets and finding them homes.

Pet Refuge is a no-kill animal shelter which places an emphasis on finding homes for every animal placed in their care, as well as spaying and neutering animals in their shelter and educating the public on pet care and welfare.

“Donations, like the one from United Federal Credit Union, are critical to furthering Pet Refuge’s mission and saving lives,” said Pam Comer, President of Pet Refuge. “We are an all-volunteer organization that relies on the kindness of the community as our only source of funding. It is businesses like United that make our work possible. We are grateful that they see our vision.”

Like most non-profits, Pet Refuge has been hit hard by the pandemic in 2020. The animal shelter is bursting at the seams and needed help financially. United identified the shelter’s needs and donated the funds which will help them continue providing outstanding care for the pets in their facility.

“Here at United Federal Credit Union, we are thrilled to be able to support Pet Refuge and their mission,” said Carla Fazio-King, United’s Regional Market Development Manager. “United understands, especially in these trying times, the importance of helping out such an amazing not-for-profit organization.”
