United Federal Credit Union Sends Two Arkansas Teachers Back to School with $500 Each

United was founded in 1949 by people just like you who believed in the values of the community and who believed in service to one another. We’ve been serving Members ever since, growing into who we are today with the knowledge that strength in numbers brings opportunities and prosperity to all of us.
SPRINGDALE, Ark. – As students and teachers across the country went back to school this fall, United Federal Credit Union (United) made the transition easier for two northwest Arkansas teachers.
As a thank you to teachers for everything they do, United’s Har-Ber Meadows branch and Promenade branch ran the “2020 We Applaud Teachers Sweepstakes” during the month of August. With many teachers spending their own money to supply their classrooms, the contest offered a way for two teachers to have extra cash to get ready for the new school year.
Amy Sandy, a teacher at Springdale School District’s Sonora Elementary School, and Pam Ben, a teacher at Rogers School District’s Elmwood Middle School, won United’s ‘2020 We Applaud Teachers Sweepstakes’. Both teachers received a $500 Visa gift card to be used to support their classrooms.
Sandy plans to use her $500 to buy new books to expand the library in her classroom. While Ben will put her $500 toward a new laptop she plans to use to find new ways to expand her lesson plans to teach her students.
“We know how important our teachers are in our communities. United is thrilled to be able to help out with two local teachers,” said Stephanie Riffle, Market Vice President. “Our partnership extends beyond a financial donation, however, and our team looks forward to volunteering within both school districts, working with teachers and students regarding financial literacy and beyond”
