Greensboro, NC – September 15, 2020 - Summit Credit Union is pleased to announce having awarded over $62,000 in scholarship grants for fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters. Sixty-six students were selected based on their academic achievements and their involvement in school and community-related activities. The scholarship funds issued will be used towards each recipient’s college-related expenses.

“Summit Credit Union’s college scholarship program is largely supported by the generosity of Elizabeth ‘Sis’ and James ‘Jim’ Hamilton. As lifelong learners, Sis and Jim’s goal was to offer education opportunities to our members, financial or otherwise. Summit Credit Union supports today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities through knowledge and education, whether through our consumer financial literacy or our college scholarship programs. This was another record year for awarding scholarships and Summit Credit Union is proud to support this effort in their memory, especially during these unprecedented times,” says Sam Whitehurst, President and CEO of Summit Credit Union.

Summit Credit Union offers scholarships to any member, adult, or high school senior who expects to attend an educational program beyond high school as a full-time student. Scholarships are given through the Elizabeth H. and James V. Hamilton Scholarship Fund. Applications for the next academic year of 2021-2022 can be submitted for consideration on our website beginning October 1, 2020.
