Credit Union Association Supports Financial Literacy
July 17, 2013
Each year the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association partners with Junior Achievement of Central PA to volunteer in the classroom and at the Young Mens and Womens Futures Symposiums.
The PCUA represents a network of over 500 credit unions across PA and provides advocacy, public relations management, and administrative guidance for its members. In tandem with the Credit Union Foundation, the PCUA provides support for programs on financial literacy education like Junior Achievement, disaster relief, and credit union advocacy. "JA programs are a natural fit," Senior Vice President of Communications and Marketing states. "The Credit Union Association, as well as PAs credit unions, are dedicated to financial literacy education for all. JA provides that early foundation in an engaging and experiential way."
In the last 10 years, PCUA employees and members have dedicated over 1,250 volunteer hours to Junior Achievement programs: inspiring students and impacting futures. Every year, more PCUA volunteers enter the classroom, impacting even more life. T. Fesko, a long-time Junior Achievement volunteer and employee of the PCUA, has advice for anyone thinking of volunteering "Relax and enjoy. As an accountant, I am not a public speaker and was extremely nervous my first year, but I really enjoy it and the children make it fun."
