Security Service FCU Donates $17,500 to PUrchase School Supplies for Area Children

(SAN ANTONIO, TX – August 18, 2020) –– With growing unemployment rates, families need assistance purchasing school supplies now more than at any time in recent history. In response to this, Security Service Federal Credit Union is collectively donating $17,500 to assist with school supply purchases across the communities it serves in Texas, Colorado and Utah.

One in six children in the United States lives in poverty and this statistic is expected to increase during the coming school year due to added financial hardships prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Providing school supplies is a critical step to success for so many students. The credit union’s donation will help combat the growing need for school supplies for some of the most vulnerable children across the regions where it operates.

Security Service is donating the funds to local non-profits who will purchase and distribute school supplies to area children in need. These non-profit organizations include SA YES in San Antonio, CC YES in Corpus Christi, The Salvation Army Salt Lake City Corps in Utah, and The Salvation Army El Paso County in Colorado.
