Madison, SD - August 12, 2020 - East River Federal Credit Union (ERFCU) recently challenged its members to help raise funds for a local utility and rental assistance program. The “Home is Where the Heart is” fundraiser featured staff explaining a place that means home to them. ERFCU then encouraged members to donate and pledged matching the funds up to $500. Ultimately, members, staff and the credit union donated $1,000 to the local Ministerial Association to help those in area with utility and rental costs. The check was presented to the Association during their July meeting.

In addition, five local students were “adopted” by ERFCU during the Madison Back to School Supply Drive. Donations were collected by Dakota Cinema in Madison and distributed to families in the area. The elementary and middle school students that were “adopted” were given all the supplies they need for the upcoming school year.

“As a financial cooperative, we have a tradition of people helping people,” said Erica Clements, Marketing Specialist. “Giving back to the community is really at the heart of who we are as a credit union. We were honored to be able to provide students in our community the items they need to make this school year a successful one, and to help support those who need utility and rental assistance.”

East River Federal Credit Union is located in Madison, SD and was founded in October 1956 through the vision of several early members who pooled their resources to create a credit union. Today, they are a healthy, growing, stable financial institution with approximately 3,400 members and $33.2M in assets. East River FCU is committed to the success and financial well-being of their members and their entire community.
