Chesterfield, MO (August 3, 2020) – During the month of July, First Community employees made monetary donations to help their local food pantries. For a minimum of $20 they could wear jeans every Friday for the whole month. The credit union also made a corporate match to those donations. At the end of the month, they were able to donate $3,000 to each food pantry for a total of $15,000.

With so many First Community branches throughout the St. Louis/Metro area, they decided to split the money amongst the region with donations made to Operation Food Search, Circle of Concern, the Arnold Food Pantry, Oasis Food Pantry, and the Glen-Ed Pantry.

“We thank the employees and First Community for the thoughtful donation. It's needed now and will be later. My one concern is for the working poor, those who are most vulnerable to layoffs and terminations. With a struggling economy that won’t be fixed anytime soon, we expect more will be in need of food and grocery items. With the help from First Community and others, we’re confident that we can fulfill our mission” said Ed Fitzhenry, Executive Director of the Arnold Food Pantry.

With these uncertain times during a pandemic, now more than ever donating and giving back to the community is needed. First Community continues to follow the credit union mission of “people helping people” and working continuously to support the communities that they are in.
