Williston VT—June 18, 2020 - As part of its ongoing mission to support the communities in which it operates, New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) is contributing $250,000 to a number of regional organizations.

$50,000 to the University of Vermont Medical Center’s COVID-19 Response Fund, which addresses immediate and emerging needs related to the Coronavirus pandemic. NEFCU’s contribution will focus on first responders.

$50,000 to the Vermont Food Bank’s COVID-19 Hunger Relief Fund. Since 1986, the Vermont Food Bank has worked to ensure that no one in Vermont suffers food insecurity, which has been made even more acute by the Coronavirus crisis.

$50,000 to Burlington’s Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS).  Since 1982, COTS’s mission has been to provide emergency shelter, homelessness prevention, housing, and services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Vermont. Always pressing, these needs have been magnified by the Coronavirus pandemic.

$50,000 to Franklin County organizations ($10,000 each):

  •          Franklin County Home Health

  •          Martha’s Kitchen

  •          Tim’s House

  •          United Way of Franklin County

  •          Northwest Family Food

$25,000 to the Community Health Centers of Vermont, to support its mission of improving the health of all within the communities it serves and to meet the current, unique challenges presented by COVID-19.

$25,000 to United Way of Northwest Vermont’s United Response Fund. The United Way of Northwest Vermont is dedicated to supporting community members through the COVID-19 pandemic and the social and economic fallout caused by it.

“As a local, member-owned financial institution, we can only be as strong as the communities where we operate,” noted John J. Dwyer, Jr., NEFCU’s President and CEO. “This is a time of unprecedented challenge and we are especially pleased to provide support when it is so critically needed.  In addition, over the last three months NEFCU has provided fee relief to our members that exceeds the total amount of these contributions.”
