Miramar, Fla. (May 27, 2020)- Tropical Financial Credit Union is honored to announce that one of its own has received a Patriot Award by the Department of Defense and Employer Support of the Guard and National Reserve. Elizabeth Jimenez, the Vice President of Human Resources, was nominated by an employee in her department who is an active member of the Army Reserves.

The Patriot Award is given to individual supervisors after they have been nominated by an employee currently serving in the National Guard or Reserve. The goal of the award is to highlight the efforts made to support these employees through a wide-range of measures. Tropical Financial Credit Union’s management team and board have always worked to support employees who also serve our country. This assistance includes flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, assistance for families, mental health resources and granting leaves of absence if needed.

“Supporting our military employees has always been a priority for us at Tropical Financial, so this recognition is a big honor,” said Elizabeth Jimenez, VP of Human Resources.

E. Jimenez was nominated by Yamilet Rubio, who has been with Tropical Financial since 2014 and is currently an active member of the Army Reserves. E. Jimenez hired Rubio as a Sales Trainer and has been her immediate supervisor from the very start.

“We really complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses and have a great working relationship,” said E. Jimenez. “Even though it is sad when she leaves us and her family for her duties, we are supportive and understand the value of her service to our country.”
