REV Federal Credit Union Launches Response To COVID-19 Pandemic

(Charleston, S.C.) – The Charleston Metro region has the distinction of being a premier tourist destination. The community receives accolades year after year for its southern hospitality, fine dining and rich history. As the effects of COVID-19 began to settle across South Carolina, many of these once bustling establishments have had to re-evaluate business practices by adapting to new norms in the hopes of keeping their staff employed. Recognizing the immense burden this is having on members of the community, REV Cares launched key initiatives to help those most impacted by the pandemic. These efforts go beyond providing loan deferments, helper loans, waiving certain fees or refinancing member loans to lower rates. REV is actively providing donations to those who need it most.
“We have always been committed to serving the region through philanthropic efforts. However, since COVID-19 began impacting this region, we decided to step up our community outreach by focusing on individuals and organizations directly impacted by the pandemic.” commented REV President, Jason Lee.
Tip Tuesday: Founded on the guiding principle of people helping people, REV branch staff are handing out $100 bills and thank you cards to employees of the food and beverage industry across the Lowcountry when picking up a curbside or drive-thru order.
Grocery Giveback: REV took over General IGA in Walterboro to host a Grocery Giveback by purchasing groceries for patrons negatively impacted by the virus. In addition to supporting the shoppers, REV recognized employees for the essential service they’re providing by handing them each a $100.
“I’d like to thank REV for supporting this community. Not only did they help shoppers, they personally recognized our team members as frontline heroes,” commented Kenny Austin, General IGA store owner.
Supporting Shelters: Area animal shelters have seen a 20% decline in donations while the number of animals being cared for continues to grow. To address the strain these organizations are facing, REV Cares provided two area shelters, Dorchester Paws and Pet Helpers, each with a $1,000 donation.
As an essential business, REV employees operate as financial first responders who are ready to answer the call and help their members and community get past the effects of the pandemic. These efforts will continue to expand as the credit union actively works to support the community.
