Herndon, Va. (May 5, 2020) – Last month, Northwest Federal Credit Union donated to eight of its local non-profit food pantry partners. The organizations, which provide food assistance, financial grants, gift cards, personal supplies and more, have been struggling in the wake of COVID-19 due to decreases in food donations from grocery stores, monetary donations and volunteer availability. In addition, the number of individuals and families requesting assistance has greatly increased, reaching double the typical amount for many. Northwest Federal has worked with these organizations for many years and recognizes the crucial role they play in the community. The donation was a gesture of support and appreciation for their efforts during this time of increased need.

“Our employees have enjoyed volunteering at these food pantries for years. When we heard the issues they were having, we wanted to support them in the most impactful way we could,” said Jeff Bentley, President and CEO of Northwest Federal. “The work our food pantry partners do is crucial, especially now, and we are extremely grateful for what they provide to our community and those they serve.”

Northwest Federal’s food pantry partners include:

  • Western Fairfax Christian Ministries

  • LINK Against Hunger

  • Dulles South Food Pantry

  • Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC)

  • Britepaths

  • Seven Loaves Middleburg

  • Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) of Prince William

  • House of Mercy
