RAPID CITY, S.D.– April 20, 2020 - Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) has found creative ways to maintain social distancing while still providing essential resources to organizations in need. The way in which they are able to connect with organizations may be different, but the goal of helping to achieve a positive impact continues.
In Rapid City, BHFCU donated $1,000 to Fork Real Community Café, a non-profit, pay-what-you-can, community café located in downtown Rapid City. They offer to-go meals and curbside pick-up during this time. A donation of $1,065 was made to Hope Center of Rapid City to help cover operations. The Hope Center provides crucial services for those living in poverty and without homes. Additionally, BHFCU employees donated thousands of much-needed supplies, including toilet paper, diapers, soap, detergent and more.
As local healthcare needs escalate, BHFCU is helping support workers and equipment with a donation of $5,000 to the Monument Health COVID-19 Medical Response Fund. This money will be used exclusively to purchase the resources needed to help treat patients and keep caregivers healthy. A separate gift of $500 was made to purchase healthy snack bags for doctors and nurses in Rapid City. In the Sioux Falls area, they are providing lunches for caregivers that can be safely dropped off curbside.
BHFCU continues to support our members and communities, knowing that if we work together, we can and will improve lives. If you are interested in helping support local, charitable organizations and causes, you can get involved through our Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
