unitusPortland, Ore. For the ninth consecutive year, Unitus Community Credit Union will host its Back to School Supply drive to help kids get the tools they need to be successful in school. Through the month of August, donations of new backpacks and school supplies can be dropped off at any of the 8 Unitus branch locations. Credit union employees will also be contributing money and supplies through a special jeans day activity on Thursday, August 15th.

All supplies will be distributed by the Credit Union to the following Title 1 schools: West Tualatin View Elementary School, William Walker Elementary School, Sacramento Elementary School, Whitcomb Elementary School, WL Henry Elementary School, Mill Plain Elementary School, and Hoover Elementary School. The downtown Plaza branch will be collecting for Schoolhouse Supplies, which supports Portland area schools. School supplies needed include: new backpacks, pencils, erasers, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, scissors, line loose-leaf paper, crayons, glue sticks, rulers, notebooks, and markers. Since 2005, the Unitus Back to School Supply Drive has resulted in the collection of over 20,000 school supplies and nearly $4,750 in monetary donations. In addition to the supply drive, Unitus has adopted Vestal School through the Schoolhouse Supplies Tools for Schools program. Tools for Schools is a project matching schools in low-income neighborhoods with local businesses, providing backpacks full of school supplies to every student at the beginning of the school year. Unitus has been a proud sponsor of this program since 2005.
