Kulm, ND - March 23, 2020 - Hometown Credit Union takes pride in the credit union motto of “People Helping People,” so its branches have been participating in the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation’s Project HOPE for several years. Project HOPE is a week-long community wellness event to educate employees and communities about healthy lifestyles, cancer prevention, and early detection of cancer. It also gives hope to local cancer patients, survivors, and their families.

This year, Hometown Credit Union took a new perspective in participating by opening Project HOPE to the community to donate and learn alongside with its employees for the week of March 9-13. The specific cancers and topics that were highlighted for this year were breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, gynecological cancer, and survivorship. Each day, employees were encouraged to wear the color of the cancer ribbons, and Hometown Credit Union posted on their Facebook page about each specific cancer to educate their members. On Wednesday of Project HOPE week, the Kulm and Ashley branches offered healthy snacks to their members. The Kulm branch also decorated their lobby with the colors, facts, and information of each cancer.

Hometown Credit Union is pleased to announce the total amount donated to Project HOPE was $700! Employees and members graciously donated $350 and Hometown Credit Union matched the $350. These proceeds will go towards the goal of the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation which is to provide financial support for those who are currently battling or who have battled cancer in the past.
