Scott CU Members Generate $35,000 Community Donation

Edwardsville, IL - February 27, 2020 - Scott Credit Union members who used their debit card in 2019 are helping give back to their community.
The local credit union recently donated over $35,000 to its Scott Credit Union Community Foundation. The money was donated at no cost to SCU members from every time they used their debit card last year.
“Members who have an Epic Checking or Blues Checking with us simply support their community every time they use their debit card,” said SCU Chief Marketing Officer Adam Koishor. “For every purchase they make with their debit card, we donate a percentage to our foundation. We do that at no cost to our members. We hope that it encourages them to use their debit card since they are supporting their community.”
The Scott Credit Union Community Foundation was established in 2018 and the proceeds from the annual golf tournament will be donated to community organizations. The foundation also will support education in the area.
“In 2019, our community foundation donated $25,000 to United Way of Greater St. Louis with proceeds from our golf tournament,” Koishor noted. “We also have funded scholarships for students who are attending SWIC or Lewis & Clark Community College in our area.”
“We can extend our community reach through our foundation and the donation that we make to it when our members use their debit cards,” he said. “It is nice that through our members’ activity with us, we can return donations into the communities in which they live.”
The credit union hopes that as more people open Epic or Blues Checking accounts, the donation annually to its community foundation will grow.
“Supporting the communities in which we serve is extremely important to us here at Scott Credit Union,” Koishor added. “The credit union itself, our community foundation and our employees through their volunteerism all contribute to that effort. Our employees volunteered more than 1,900 hours in the community in 2019. We are very appreciative and proud of their commitment.”
