Dakotaland FCU Awards $10,000 in Scholarships and $2,000 to "Favorite" Teachers!
February 27, 2020
Huron, SD - February 27, 2020 - Dakotaland FCU is pleased to announce that they have awarded ten $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing their further education. 2020 is the first year they have awarded ten individual scholarships; previously the number has been eight per year.
To apply for the Dakotaland scholarships, students were required to submit a two part essay: “What concerns do you see in your financial future,” and “How do you plan to manage those financial responsibilities?” Students were also scored on academic and community involvement, honors and awards, as well as extracurricular activities with various organizations and jobs.
In addition, each applicant was able to nominate one teacher that they felt had most impacted their lives. Those teachers each received an additional $200 to use in their classroom for any project they wish! Between the ten teachers, Dakotaland FCU added an additional $2,000 to support education in their communities!
Competition was stiff for this year’s scholarships, with over 90 applicants – nearly double the number from previous years! Congratulations to the following recipients:
