Affinity Federal Credit Union Supports Small Business Development by Lending Talent

Basking Ridge, N.J. - February 19, 2020 – Affinity Federal Credit Union’s Dawn Desmelyk has been appointed as an advisory board member to the NJ Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg Township, NJ. Desmelyk, Commercial Lending Portfolio Officer at Affinity, will work to extend Affinity’s partnership with the local organization and provide resources to small business owners.

The SBDC provides assistance and resources to aspiring and established entrepreneurs, such as access to experienced counselors who address small business questions on topics including starting a small business, strategic business planning, marketing, recordkeeping, financial needs, online and web-based technology and more.

In this position, Desmelyk serves as an advocate for small businesses, making sure they have resources, training and the tools needed to be successful. She will also work to further increase Affinity’s relationship with the SBDC, and establish Affinity’s branch in the community college as an additional support, hosting events on the center’s behalf.

“Having been a small business owner myself who utilized the invaluable resources the SBDC has to offer, and now working on the other side of it in commercial lending, I am in a unique position to be able to pass on my knowledge of both sides of business ownership,” said Desmelyk. “I am excited to continue supporting this organization as well as aspiring business owners and entrepreneurs.”
