MIDLAND, MICH. Employees at Dow Chemical Employees Credit Union raised nearly $1,000 for charitable organizations through their most recent "Jeans Day" fundraisers and bake sales. For each of the one-day fundraisers, which occur throughout the year, participating DCECU employees donate a minimum of $5, which entitles them to wear blue jeans, tennis shoes and logoed attire to work that day. In addition to the donations collected, staff members also organize internal bake sales to support their fundraising efforts.
- In May, staff members raised $488 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Huron Valley, which operates the Ronald McDonald Houses of Ann Arbor. The houses provide temporary, inexpensive housing for families of children being treated at Ann Arbor hospitals.
- In June, staff members raised $504 for CAN Council Great Lakes Bay Region, which provides programs and services focused on stopping child abuse and neglect through prevention, intervention and advocacy.
"At DCECU, we feel it is important to give back to our community year-round," said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. "We regularly promote fundraisers to help support nonprofit organizations that assist those in need. DCECU employees serve more than just our credit union members; they also serve our community members."
