Credit Union Awards 11 Scholarships

unitusPortland, Ore. As a leading financial institution in Oregon, Unitus Community Credit Union is dedicated to helping members achieve a higher education. This year, Unitus awarded 11 scholarships to graduating high school, undergraduate and graduate students. Each scholarship winner will receive $1,000 toward his or her tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year. An additional scholarship, The Thompson-Cerdena Memorial Scholarship, was added this year. �The scholarship honors the memory of Bud Thompson and Mark Cerdena and their dedicated service as Oregon Telephone Pioneers. For the 2013-2014 academic year, one $1,000 scholarship was awarded. Unitus Community Credit Union, Portland, OR,� awarded 11 scholarships to graduating high school, undergraduate and graduate students. Each scholarship winner will receive $1,000 toward his or her tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year. An additional one-time scholarship, The Thompson-Cerdena Memorial Scholarship, was added this year.� The scholarship honors the memory of Bud Thompson and Mark Cerdena and their dedicated service as Oregon Telephone Pioneers. The applicants are chosen based on academic standing, need, quality of essay, and the overall community involvement. Unitus 2013 scholarship recipients are as follows: Sarah Yates, Sam Barlow High School; Rachel Crawford, Oregon City High School; Brandon Lowder, Sam Barlow High School; Christina Davidson, Sunset High School; Shelley Jelineo, University of Southern California; John McCall, Linfield College; Peter Delmar, Concordia University; Sharon Byrne, Portland State University; Jonathan Marshall, Portland State University; Callie Vandewiele, University of Cambridge; William Wright, Portland State University; Jessica Dodd, Eastern Oregon University. In the 10 years the Unitus Community Credit Union Scholarship program has been in existence, the company� has awarded $105,000 of scholarship money to deserving candidates.
