January 30, 2020
Saint Louis, MO. January 30, 2020- On Saturday, February 1, Together Foundation will begin accepting applications for its inaugural $1,250 Together Foundation Community Scholarship on Scholarship Central, a centralized application portal developed by St. Louis Graduates to increase student access to private college funding resources.
“After partnering with several schools and community organizations to teach financial empowerment classes, we discovered there was a great need for community-based scholarships in the Greater St. Louis area,” said Pier Alsup, Chief Community Engagement & Social Responsibility Officer. “We created the Together Foundation Community Scholarship for entering or current collegians who have shown academic proficiency to help further their education.”
The Together Foundation Community Scholarship is designed to help offset the costs associated with postsecondary educational expenses for students attending a university or college, two-year college, business or technical/trade school during the fall semester of the 2020-2021 school year. The Together Foundation Community Scholarship is open to applicants, ages 15 to 23, who live or work in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County, MO, or live or work in Madison County, IL and St. Clair County, IL.
As part of the application process, applicants are asked to submit an information packet, which includes an official record of academic achievements, letters of recommendation, a list of scholastic and community activities, and a written or video essay. Applications for the scholarship will be accepted until Tuesday, March 31st .
Since 1994, Together Foundation, in conjunction with Together Credit Union, has awarded more than $185,000 in scholarships to members of the credit unions’ Young Adult Financial Group through its Vince Jacknewitz Scholarship Program. The foundation also serves residents in the St. Louis Metropolitan area by providing grants to local non-profits whose mission and values align with the foundation’s goals, and expertise for financial empowerment programs targeting areas with high financial needs.
