Harrisburg, PA (January 29, 2020) – Recently, PSECU, Pennsylvania’s anytime, anywhere digital credit union, presented the American Heart Association (AHA) with a check for $45,000, representing its annual contribution to the organization’s statewide efforts to fund innovative research, advocate for the public’s health, and share lifesaving resources.

“On behalf of our more than 450,000 members, we’re pleased to be able to provide financial support to the American Heart Association. This association does outstanding work benefiting all of our members and the greater community, and we appreciate that,” said PSECU President and CEO George Rudolph. “Likewise, we truly value the longstanding partnership we’ve maintained with AHA to help us build a healthy work environment for our employees, because the better we care for them, ultimately, the better they will be able to care for our valued members.”

PSECU’s $45K sponsorship will be used to fund various AHA initiatives and events across Pennsylvania. For example, last year PSECU funds supported Heart Walk events in Erie, Easton, Harrisburg, Lancaster, and State College. Additionally in 2019, the credit union sponsored four Go Red for Women events across the commonwealth.

At the check presentation event, held at PSECU’s headquarters in Harrisburg, AHA bestowed the credit union with an award to commemorate its 2019 Silver Level Workplace Health Achievement recognition.

Last fall, PSECU was notified that it had achieved the Silver Level in AHA’s nationwide Workplace Health Achievement Index, which uses science-based best practices to evaluate the overall quality and comprehensiveness of a company’s workplace health programs.

“The American Heart Association is committed to saving more lives from heart disease and stroke and that starts by helping people make healthy changes every day where they live and work,” said Ashley Schade, Regional Vice President of Development for the American Heart Association. “Having support from large employers like PSECU that make the health of their employees and communities a priority is essential for our organization to pursue its mission and sets an example for other local companies that want a healthier workforce and community.”

In addition to its annual AHA sponsorship and workplace employee health priorities, last September PSECU held its inaugural employee volleyball tournament, which brought the credit union’s more than 900 Pennsylvania-based employees together for a day of sportsmanship, comradery, and fundraising. Through the event, PSECU raised a $10K+ donation for AHA.

“From all of us at PSECU, I’d like to say ‘thank you’ to the American Heart Association for your continued collaboration, and for all you do to support the health and well-being of people across the nation,” Rudolph added.
