Millionaireforaday2013GRAFTON - What would you do if you were a millionaire for a day? That was the questioned posed to children in grades kindergarten through 6th from North Grafton Elementary, South Grafton Elementary, Millbury Street, and NorthStreetSchools in this years Grafton Suburban Credit Union (GSCU) annual "Millionaire for a Day Contest." Since 1995, GSCU has made this contest a part of its school banking program. All participants were asked to create a poster no larger than 16"x20" titled, "If I were a Millionaire for a Day." All students who participated, with the exception of kindergarten-aged students, were also asked to write an essay describing what they would do if they were a millionaire for a day to accompany their posters. Entries were judged by GSCU employees on content, neatness, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. First place winners were escorted to GSCU in a chaperoned limousine, where they were given a tour of the credit union and treated to lunch with GSCU President and CEO Lloyd L. Hamm, Jr. and GSCU staff. In addition, in each grade level first place winners received $30; second place winners received $20; and third place winners received $15. Posters will remain on display at GSCU for all members to enjoy. "Teaching our children about the importance of saving money and how to use it wisely is a great responsibility. Were honored to be able to reach out to so many children in the Grafton school system and get that message across," Hamm said. Since its inception, GSCU has partnered with numerous local, regional, civic, and non-profit organizations, and continues to designate special days for member appreciation and community-minded charitable giveback. Grafton Suburban is a $125 million credit union serving 11,000 members in Worcester and MiddlesexCounties. For more information, visit www.graftonsuburban.com.
