Clearfield, UT - Mountain America Credit Union, in partnership with Davis Education Foundation, hosted South Clearfield Elementary’ s first annual The Elves and the Shoemaker event on December 13, where they surprised 87 students with a new pair of shoes.

As a long-standing supporter of the Davis School District, Mountain America donates $25 to the Davis Education Foundation for every qualifying new account. The funds are, in turn, used to help support the needs of students in the Davis School District, including this year's The Elves and the Shoemaker event.

Principal Robert Kinghorn goes above and beyond to ensure students at South Clearfield Elementary succeed, and he worked closely with the Davis Education Foundation to launch this event. "Education is something we pride ourselves in," said Principal Kinghorn. "But we know that if we are not meeting the basic needs of our students, it becomes hard for them to focus on academics."

The event kicked off with a reading of the book, "The Elves and the Shoemaker." As the story ended, sleigh bells sounded off into the distance. Students ran to the library to find little elves had left freshly wrapped presents, one for each student. Inside they found a brand new pair of shoes in just their size!

The kids spent the next half hour racing around in their new shoes, showing each other just how fast these new shoes could make them run.
