NAPERVILLE – December 18, 2019 – DuPage Credit Union recently awarded a total of $10,000 in grant monies to twenty-five DuPage County teachers through its Classroom Color Grant program – which helps fund innovative projects and purchase materials for local classrooms.
As an organization founded by educators, DuPage Credit Union believes that one vibrant idea can transform an ordinary classroom into a beautiful learning adventure. To date the Credit Union has awarded $20,000 to local teachers through its Classroom Color Grant.
Teachers who applied for the Color Grant submitted detailed goals and objectives to describe how they would use grant monies to add color to their classroom. A committee of DuPage Credit Union Team Members scored each application and grants were given to those with the highest cumulative scores.
Grant funds this fall helped purchase everything from windowsill planter boxes to grow fresh herbs in food classes, instrument stands for music class, subscriptions to engaging age-appropriate magazines, books for classroom libraries, items for STEM activities and touchscreen tablets to just name a few.
“We are thrilled by the creative vision and commitment of all grant applicants,” said Amy Brandt, Vice President of Business Solutions, “and are excited to help spark ingenuity, imagination and lifelong learning adventures for local students.”
Grant Recipients included teachers from: Downers Grove North High School, DuJardin Elementary School, Eisenhower Junior High School, Elmwood Elementary School, Glenn Westlake Middle School, Gombert Elementary School, Granger Middle School, Indian Trail, Lincoln Elementary School, Lisle Elementary School, Longwood Elementary School, Medinah Middle School, Owen Elementary School, St. Irene Catholic School, Spring Hills Elementary School, Still Middle School, Waubonsie Valley High School and West Chicago Community High School.
