Credit Union Awards $7,500 in Scholarships

Westerly Community Credit Union recently awarded (3) $2500 scholarships to local students of Westerly and Chariho High Schools. westerlyMichaela Pagliarini was awarded the Westerly Community Credit Union- Joseph N. Cugini Scholarship. The Joseph N. Cugini Scholarship is named on behalf of the Credit Unions former president, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Joseph Cugini. Cugini retired in 2000 after 41 years of service to the Credit Union. Michaela is a graduate of Chariho High School and will be attending the University of Rhode Island in the fall. The scholarship was awarded at the High Schools Awards Ceremony by Danny Nesmith, of the WCCU Board of Directors. Carmen Wu of Westerly was awarded the Westerly Community Credit Union- Robert M. Bewlay Memorial Scholarship. The Robert M. Bewlay Memorial Scholarship is named in honor of the Credit Unions former Vice President, Robert M. Bewlay for his 35 years of dedication and service to the Westerly Community Credit Union. Wu is a graduate of Westerly High School and will be attending the University of Rhode Island in the fall. She was awarded the scholarship at the Westerly High School Baccalaureate Ceremony by WCCU Board of Directors, Gerry Gleason and Steven Scales. Shu Hua Lin was awarded the Westerly Community Credit Union Vocational Scholarship. The Westerly Community Credit Union Vocational Scholarship was added to their scholarship program this year and is awarded to a graduating High School Senior who will be attending a Vocation Credentialed Program upon graduation. Shu Hua will be entered into the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of New Haven in the fall. She was also awarded the scholarship at the Westerly High School Baccalaureate Ceremony by WCCU Board of Directors, Gerry Gleason and Steven Scales.
