ARLINGTON, Texas – December 12, 2019Texas Trust Credit Union is supporting Wreaths Across America with volunteer assistance and a monetary donation, helping to remember and honor deceased veterans who bravely served to keep America free.

Texas Trust raised $1,725 for wreaths to adorn graves of our country’s fallen heroes buried at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. The nationwide wreath laying ceremony is Saturday, December 14, when thousands of volunteers will place wreaths at military gravesites across the U.S.

A team of Texas Trust volunteers will take part in the event at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, helping lay wreaths on the headstones of each of the 48,000 veterans buried there. Each veteran’s name will be recited, to honor and remember them for their service.

For Pat Jackson, a tenured Texas Trust employee, Wreaths Across America is a deeply personal and meaningful event for her family. Her husband, Navy Petty Officer Third Class Samuel K. Jackson, was buried at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in May 2017.

“My children and grandchildren place wreaths as a way to honor their father and grandfather and the thousands of others buried there that served our country. It is a great bonding experience and time of reflection about the true sacrifices these men and women made,” said Jackson.

Jackson continued, “Laying a wreath on the graves of these vets is a symbol of our appreciation for their service and our love for this country. Wreaths Across America allows my family to not only honor my husband, but to play a part in remembering all of our country’s vets and helping to teach the younger generation that our freedom has a price.”
