LANDSTUHL, GERMANY (December 10, 2019) – Service Credit Union and the Armed Forces Financial Network (AFFN) have once again partnered to donate $3,000 to the Landstuhl Fisher House, which provides a home away from home for families of patients receiving medical care at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. This effort follows a previous joint donation of $3,000 in May 2019.

“As longtime supporters of the Landstuhl Fisher House, we are honored to contribute to this outstanding cause, which truly helps our military members and their families by providing the support they need during challenging times,” said Philip von Streicher, Vice President of Overseas Operations at Service Credit Union.

Founded in 1995, the Fisher House program provides free lodging for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers, so they may be close to their loved ones as they recover from illness or injury. Landstuhl, Germany is home to two Fisher House locations, located across the street from each other and in close proximity to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, which serves military personnel and family members stationed in the European Union. It is also the nearest treatment center for wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, and the largest military hospital outside the continental United States.

The donation from Service Credit Union, matched by AFFN, an ATM and point-of-sale (POS) network providing the military community with ready access to their funds, will go towards assisting and enhancing operations, including funding the daily living expenses of military members staying at Fisher House.
