Four Diamonds Mini-THON to Receive $90K in Support from PSECU
November 21, 2019
Hershey and Harrisburg, PA (November 21, 2019) – Recently, PSECU - Pennsylvania’s anytime, anywhere digital credit union - pledged to provide Four Diamonds Mini-THON® a total of $90,000 in support over the next three years. The PSECU funding will be used to assist in underwriting the costs of Mini-THON’s online fundraising platform, which Mini-THON schools and participants can customize and share with their personal networks to raise money for childhood cancer awareness and research.
“People helping people – that’s the credit union philosophy, and the truest essence of what we are at PSECU: a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative where pooled resources are used to foster collective well-being and opportunity. Mini-THON follows the same ideal, providing youth the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of their peers,” explained PSECU President George Rudolph. “On behalf of our more than 450,000 members, PSECU is thrilled to support the people-focused, charitable work of youth in communities throughout Pennsylvania and beyond through involvement with Mini-THON. As the students dance toward their goal, we’ll be cheering them on!”
Four Diamonds Mini-THONs are multi-hour, fun-filled events for K-12 students that inspire teamwork, leadership, and creativity, while empowering youth and young adults through philanthropy and community service in the fight to conquer childhood cancer. Mini-THONs are modeled after the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) and have been making a difference in the lives of childhood cancer patients and their families since 1993.
With more than 90,000 student volunteers and 265 schools participating, Mini-THONs bring hope to families in need and give back to their local community. During the 2018-19 school year, participating elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools raised more than $7.2 million for Four Diamonds.
“We’re honored to have PSECU join us as a partner in the fight to conquer childhood cancer,” said Four Diamonds Mini-THON Director Kristen Masengarb. “Their support will help us continue building the next generation of leaders and philanthropists who are committed to conquer childhood cancer in our community and around the world.”
In addition to sponsorship of the Mini-THON Donor Drive Page, PSECU works with Mini-THON schools throughout the state by offering financial support when possible.
“Not only does Mini-THON help children raise money for a good cause, it also unifies them in a common goal, empowers them by developing leadership skills, encourages collaboration, raises their awareness of budgeting and financial planning, and teaches them many other important life lessons,” added Margaret Delmonico, PSECU’s Director who oversees community outreach and collaboration. “We’re so pleased to be a part of Mini-THON’s efforts to prepare students for a successful, fulfilling and healthy future.”
