Alaska Credit Union League Supports Local Food Banks and Pantries with Over $73,000 in Donations
November 21, 2019
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska Credit Union League (ACUL) is dedicated to improving communities across the entire state of Alaska. The ACUL came together during National Hunger Month to conduct the Cash for Cans® fundraiser in credit unions across the state. This fundraiser made it possible for the Alaska credit unions to raise and donate more than $73,000 to food banks and pantries in the communities they serve.
The Cash for Cans® fundraiser, initially created and trademarked by Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, was launched in 2014. With the inclusion of the other credit unions across Alaska, the ACUL was successful in broadening its reach and the benefit to the communities for which the credit unions serve.
“Our commitment to our communities is spurred by our credit union philosophy of people helping people,” said ACUL President, Dan McCue. “Each of our credit unions embrace the idea of giving back to the community and assisting with the most basic need of addressing food insecurities in the great state of Alaska.”
About Alaska Credit Union League: The Alaska Credit Union League is comprised of 11 credit unions throughout the state: Alaska District Engineers Federal Credit Union, Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, ALPS Federal Credit Union, Credit Union 1, Denali a Division of Nuvision Credit Union, MAC Federal Credit Union, Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union, Northern Skies Federal Credit Union, Spirit of Alaska Federal Credit Union, Tongass Federal Credit Union, and True North Federal Credit Union.
