Credit Unions Unite to Support HCCI's Women & Money Event

Topeka, KS - With the support of Azura Credit Union, Community America, Mainstreet, Mid-American and Heartland Credit Union Foundation, Housing Credit Counseling Inc.(HCCI) was able to host thirteen financial literacy classes for 97 women at their Women and Money event in Johnson County, KS.

Attendees learned about:

-On-line apps for managing money
-Insurance
-Work training/college and career planning
-Banking
-Investing 
-Renting vs owning a home
-Wills and end of life planning

The Keynote Speaker, Helaine Olen, co-author of The Index Card:Why Personal Finance Doesn't have to be Complicated, gave a presentation about how you can use your public library as a resource for managing your money. 

At the end of the day participants were encouraged to provide additional recommendations:

-100% of participants responding said they would recommend WOmen & Money to a friend
-About 75% of women attending marked they "feel better" about their ability to manage their money well.
-About 25% of women marked they "feel more confident" about their personal money management skills after attending Women & Money Day.
