untitled In the second year of the Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union's teacher recognition program, the credit union received almost 200 nominations and awarded seven Appreciated Teacher Awards. It was an inspiring and humbling experience to read through all of the nominations. Nominations came from parents of students, fellow teachers, principals, siblings, sons and daughters and spouses. Each recipient received an engraved award, a $100 honorarium and a $100 donation to their school.   The 2013 Appreciated Teachers are: Amalia Savala Meador Elementary (Pasadena ISD) Janet Wohlgemuth MacArthur Elementary School (Galena Park ISD) Paul Tate Pasadena Memorial High School (Pasadena ISD) Brenda Sauser Hall Elementary (Clear Creek ISD) Debra Forehand Crockett Elementary (Goose Creek CISD) Stephen Steinbauer Stewart Elementary (Hitchcock ISD) Dung Tran Clear Falls High School (Clear Creek ISD) The credit union is dedicated to serving the financial needs of school employees in Harris, Brazoria & Galveston counties. The board is comprised of current and former educators and a majority of the credit unions staff has a family member in the education field. The credit union knows teachers because their family members are teachers. The credit union wanted a way to recognize the outstanding work teachers do in the classroom and the impact they have on our community. The credit union felt the Appreciated Teacher Awards were one small way they could recognize some of the best in our area.
