Credit Union Collects Donations for Boston Marathon Victims
June 25, 2013
Somerville, MA - In the days following the tragic events at the Boston Marathon finish line, CPCU launched an initiative to collect donations to benefit the One Fund Boston and assist those most affected. Within three weeks, CPCU raised $1,300 from employees and credit union members.
CPCU chose to utilize their coin counting machines as part of their collection due to itsfrequent use and high visibility. Signage was placed on the machines in both branches, encouraging members to donate 10% or more of their exchange to the One Fund Boston effort. Canisters were also available at each branch for individuals who wished to donate, but were not using the coin machines. To further bolster donations, CPCU employees were allowed to exchange their traditional work attire for jeans and a blue or yellow shirt on April 26th for a $10 donation to support the Boston Marathons One Fund. CPCU matched the total collection through May 13th.
"We are grateful to our members and the staff at CPCU for their donations and support of the One Fund Boston. In this difficult time, it is important for us to come together and stand strong for Boston," noted Rui F. Domingos, Chief Executive Officer at CPCU Credit Union.
