United Credit Union Holds Chili Cook-Off to Support Local Family in Need

Ness City, KS - For the last five years, the United Credit Union in has picked a family in need or going through a rough time that they can raise money for. This year’s cook-off proceeds were donated to the LaMotte family in Wakeeney, Kansas. Finnegan LaMotte is 6 years old and battling brain cancer. A local musician from Back2Back band provided the night’s entertainment, and over 125 people showed up to support the family. The chili cook-off had 4 categories with five contestants per category and a best overall winner. The categories were: regular, spicy, special ingredient and white chili. The employees and board of United Credit Union again were amazed by the volunteers and donations that were received. The family received $3,426 from the night’s event. The employees and board members have heard such positive feedback from the benefit that it shows credit unions really are people helping people.
