Credit Union Reaches 10,000 People with Financial Education

jeanned'arcLOWELL MA� Jeanne DArc Credit Union is pleased to announce that its Financial Education team has achieved its goal of providing financial education to 10,000 people between September 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013. The team reached its 10,066th individual as of Friday, May 31st, one month ahead of schedule. "At Jeanne DArc Credit Union, we take financial education and our commitment to the community very seriously," said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne DArc Credit Union. "We are extremely proud of our Financial Education team and the work they do each day to help community members make smart financial choices." Jeanne DArc Credit Union is the only local financial institution with a team completely dedicated to financial literacy. The department began as a team of one in 2005 and has since grown to a team of five. To achieve its goal of reaching 10,000 people over 10 months, the team conducted a total of 407 presentations to those ranging in age from pre-school through senior citizens. Classes were conducted in public and private schools, churches, non-profit organizations, and for community groups. Classes focused on such topics as basic banking, budgeting, credit, career paths, and entrepreneurship.
