ST. JOSEPH, MI (October 24, 2019) — United Federal Credit Union (United) donated $5,000 to the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs at a check presentation on October 18.

United’s donation will help support the Stand With U mentoring program as well as fund the maintenance for five of the Club’s vans.

“The youth of our community are our future,” said Stephanie Riffle, United’s Market Vice President—Arkansas. “What better way to support them, than through the Boys & Girls Clubs. As a credit union, we invest in a lot of things, but our future—these children—are the most important.”

The Stand With U program provides the Club’s members an opportunity to receive one-to-one guidance through weekly meetings at the Club. Volunteer mentors serve as positive role models, help enhance the child’s self-esteem and confidence levels, build character, and increase potential in the mentees.

“Having our relationship with United Federal Credit Union is so important to the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs,” said Jason Morland, Director of Operations at the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs. “Our mentoring program helps to place children who are in need of an “extra” friend, a friend that is there to listen to them or just be there in a time of need. The program helps so many young people and without the support from United, it would not have the backing to last the entire program length. It is wonderful to have a company understand the importance of the challenges of today’s youth and step up to ensure the program’s success.”

2019 marks the third year United has sponsored the Stand With U program.

United places a high value on supporting the communities in which it serves, especially when it comes to investing in its future through a focus on giving back to the area’s children.
