freedomFreedom Credit Union sponsored two awards at the Philadelphia School Districts Celebration of Excellence ceremony this week. Freedom presented checks to Dana Jenkins, an administrator from Roxborough High School, for the Dr. Marcus Foster award and Joseph Bahm, Principal at Solis-Cohen Elementary, for the Dr. Robert Poindexter award. Each award was for $2,500. The Dr. Marcus Foster award was created to honor an outstanding administrator in the District and to perpetuate the name of the late Dr. Foster. The recipient must have made a noteworthy contribution in curriculum, instruction, school improvement or administration. The Dr. Robert Poindexter award honors an elementary school principal and is a tribute to the late Dr. Robert Poindexter. Throughout his distinguished career with the School District of Philadelphia, Dr. Poindexter was a great example of a District employee who served as a dedicated and devoted educator, whose primary focus was always children and education. He also served, for over 40 years, on Freedom Credit Unions Board of Directors. Freedom Credit Union strives to continually support events that promote excellence in education and provide educators within the community the recognition they deserve.
