Billings, MT - On Saturday, October 5, Altana FCU held its annual all staff development day. In the spirit of “People Helping People,” nearly 80 employees stayed late to assemble emergency kits to support the local Salvation Army's outreach efforts to the homeless individuals in Billings. Those efforts include delivering hot meals to an average of 450 people and during the winter, many of these community members are often without the essentials to stay warm on the coldest nights. That's where the emergency kits that Altana staff put together come in. Each kit contains gloves, a hat, hand warmers, an emergency blanket, a pair of socks, wet wipes, and a protein bar, and they will be handed out as needed during the Salvation Army's nightly meal route over the course of the winter. Working together, it took just less than 30 minutes for Altana's 80 staffers to package up all the supplies. But their efforts add up — the credit union reported 35 hours to our Giving Time in 2019 initiative and, most importantly, 100 Montanans in need will get some help during the coming winter!
