1st Advantage FCU Colleagues Come Together for a Day of Community Service

Yorktown, Virginia / October 14, 2019 – While most financial institutions were closed for the Columbus Day holiday, 1st Advantage colleagues rolled up their sleeves and participated in their twelfth annual 1st A.I.D.E. (Assistance, Inspiration, Dedication, and Experience) Day; a day that is dedicated to giving back to, and reinvesting in, the community that they serve.
Throughout the day colleagues worked on different large projects, each one uniquely designed and carefully planned, centered around fulfilling the immediate needs of several local non-profit organizations. 1st Advantage is humbled and honored to partner with these deserving organizations as they continue to selflessly provide for our neighbors.
Accomplishments included:

Completed 1000 USO comfort bags for deployed service members

Assembled 237 math rings for students at Dare Elementary

Created 691 surgery bears for Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters

Put together 100 After Care Kits and 1005 toiletry bags for Fear 2 Freedom

Folded and prepared 1573 brochures for the American Red Cross

Built 5 picnic tables for the Habitat of Humanity

Packed 30 Ready Bags for the Roc Solid Foundation

Prepared 191 financial education folders for the Dreams of Hope Foundation

Assembled and donated 40 bicycles to the C. Waldo Schott Center for H.O.P.E. & Rosemont Unit of the Boys & Girls Club

Made 109 blanket wraps for Ivy Baptist Church Homeless Ministry

Made 99 dog and cat blankets for the Peninsula SPCA
