SANTA FE, New Mexico, September 30, 2019— Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU) is creating awareness for breast cancer this October with a campaign to raise funds to be donated to the American Cancer Society, Inc. The decision to raise funds and awareness began with a reflection on what credit unions are known for—giving back and being helpful community partners.

The credit union philosophy of people helping people goes beyond providing the right financial products for the membership. According to DNCU CEO/President, Chuck Valenti, “our unwavering dedication to improving lives is carried out by every DNCU employee when they go that extra mile.” Valenti continued by stating that, “donating these funds is about supporting our communities during difficult times, like when friends and neighbors are touched by cancer.”

DNCU is asking for stories from members, their families and friends who are survivors. DNCU will share these stories at dncu.org and throughout our social media accounts. By sharing survivor stories we can provide hope and inspiration and create a deep awareness within our communities. Please email your story to Kristi L. Salazar; Community Engagement Specialist at klsalazar@dncu.org

Each Friday in October staff will be wearing casual PINK attire and request donations from members to benefit the American Cancer Society, Inc. This will create awareness throughout our communities as well as supporting research for a cure.

“DNCU is committed to investing in Northern New Mexico’s future for generations to come. We see a real need, and hope our employees, members and community coming together to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, Inc. will make a lasting impact,” stated Kim Currie, SVP of Marketing for DNCU.

Del Norte Credit Union is a proud sponsor of Making Strides and will be joining the hundreds of supporters walking on October 5th at Villa Linda Park.

Chartered in 1954, Del Norte Credit Union is a not-for-profit cooperative celebrating 65 years of dedication to helping its members achieve financial success by being a trusted source of unbiased financial advice. Today DNCU serves more than 50,000 members throughout New Mexico.
