Harrisburg, PA (October 1, 2019) – Today, PSECU launched its third annual PSECU Gives Back campaign through which individuals vote to select one of four nonprofit organizations to receive $2,200 in popular vote-based financial support from Pennsylvania’s largest credit union.

“At PSECU, we understand that community-based nonprofit organizations can bring about many positive changes in the places we all live, work, and play. That’s why each year we hold a campaign called PSECU Gives Back where our more than 450,000 members and the local community can weigh in on what organizations they feel are deserving of a little extra financial support,” said PSECU President George Rudolph. “We encourage everyone to make their voice heard by voting in this year’s poll; it helps us to determine how our pooled resources can help improve Pennsylvania communities for everyone’s benefit.”

PSECU’s members and non-members alike should visit PSECU’s Facebook page to cast a vote for one of the outstanding community organizations listed below. The one with the most votes as of October 31, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. (ET) will be named the winner.

  • Feeding Pennsylvania: Feeding Pennsylvania is a collaborative effort of eight Feeding America-affiliated food banks in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The mission of Feeding Pennsylvania is to promote and aid member food banks in securing food and other resources to reduce hunger and food insecurity and to provide a shared voice on the issues of hunger and food access within the state.

  • PA Breast Cancer Coalition: The PA Breast Cancer Coalition represents, supports, and serves breast cancer survivors and their families in Pennsylvania through educational programming, legislative advocacy, and breast cancer research grants.

  • Special Olympics Pennsylvania: The mission of Special Olympics PA is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

  • Susquehanna Service Dogs: Susquehanna Service Dogs (SSD) raises, trains, and places service dogs and hearing dogs, as well as facility dogs, to assist children and adults with disabilities to become more independent. Since it was founded in 1993, SSD has placed over 300 service dogs with people throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding states.

The $2,200 PSECU donation amount was selected in remembrance of the credit union’s 22 founders.

“More than 80 years ago, our 22 founders started the credit union with the objective of helping others through shared financial opportunity. Today, in all we do, we strive to follow that community betterment-based legacy,” explained Barb Bowker, Vice President of Marketing and Membership Development for PSECU. “We encourage people to share this contest with friends, family, and colleagues. PSECU is proud to continue supporting our communities – and now the choice is yours!”

The winner of last year’s PSECU Gives Back campaign was Pennsylvania Envirothon.

PSECU Gives Back is just one component of PSECU’s ongoing, year-round commitment to community support through charitable sponsorships and corporate donations, financial education programming and resources, and employee volunteerism supported by the credit union’s more than 900 employees.
