Credit Union Collects Books so Others Can Read

booksJason Ratliff and Darlene Powell of Astera Credit Union stopped by the Ionia County Literacy Council Monday to give Cynthia Talcott, literacy council executive director, a donation of 100 books for adults and children the business has collected over the past month.
 
This year's first-place winner of the Great Grown-up Spelling Bee, sponsored by the literacy council, Astera Credit Union supports the literacy program, because "if you can't read, you pretty much can't do anything," Ratliff said.
 
Astera employees are planning another project to support the literacy council in the near future, Powell said.
