Rapid City, SD - Thursday, September 5th was the 20th Annual United Way Day of Caring in Rapid City, South Dakota. Sentinel Federal CU supplied seven employees who volunteered to spend the afternoon at Storybook Island to improve the landscaping. The group helped to spread wood chips around numerous displays and assisted in cleaning up the quaint park. Storybook Island has many playground attractions based on characters and locations found in popular children's books.

Day of Caring is a fundraising campaign with a community-wide focus on providing a helping hand. This day brings together caring volunteers with agencies and community projects for one day of focused energy. Thousands of volunteers across the Black Hills work on hundreds of projects from gardening to painting. The day allows for everyone to “give a little good” back to the community and make a difference for people. With an economic impact of more than $80,000 to the Black Hills area, this day is more than grabbing a shovel and digging in. It’s about providing that helping hand to those people and agencies who need it.
