Harrisburg, PA  – Over the next two weeks, the American Heart Association will host five Heart Walk events across Pennsylvania that are supported by PSECU - Pennsylvania’s anytime, anywhere digital credit union. Held in Erie, Easton, Harrisburg, Lancaster, and State College, the walks are part of the American Heart Association’s premier fundraising campaign for the fight against heart disease and stroke - the nation’s number one and five killers, respectively.

“The American Heart Association asks individuals, groups, and businesses to ‘put their money where their heart is,’ and that’s just what PSECU is doing,” said the credit union’s President George Rudolph. “As an advocate for the health and vitality of the communities we serve, PSECU sponsors Heart Walks and other American Heart Association events and initiatives across the state. On behalf of our more than 450,000 members, we’re excited to be a part of this movement to increase awareness of heart disease and stroke, honor and celebrate survivors, and raise money for research that can develop lifesaving breakthroughs.”

PSECU has supported the American Heart Association for several years. For the PSECU-funded Heart Walk events this year, PSECU is the designated Social Media Sponsor, with funding and assistance supporting a social media campaign and event-specific Snapchat filters to promote awareness of the American Heart Association’s mission. In addition to sponsorship of Heart Walk events across the commonwealth, the credit union annually sponsors Go Red for Women activities in Altoona, Bethlehem, Camp Hill, and Pittsburgh. PSECU also encourages its more than 900 statewide employees to raise funds for the American Heart Association through activities like the corporatewide volleyball and cornhole tournaments it will hold this September in support of the cause.

“The mission of the American Heart Association is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. That change starts by empowering people in our communities to take charge of their health and be a positive influence on their co-workers, family, and friends. We thank PSECU for working with us to give a fun and engaging Snapchat tool for our walkers to be healthy social media influencers,” said American Heart Association Regional Vice President of Development Ashley Schade.
