Envision CU Offering Free Financial Education Workshops
August 16, 2019
TALLAHASSEE, FL — Envision Credit Union (Envision) announced they will be offering free Financial Education workshops, online or in the classroom, to assist educators in meeting the requirements of HB 7071, Florida’s new Workforce Education Bill. The bill, signed into law in June 2019, promotes career readiness and workforce opportunities for students in Florida and requires that all public high schools now offer a half-credit elective in financial literacy. With the 2019-2020 school year right around the corner, Envision is stepping up to provide teachers with the tools they need to bridge the gap between financial literacy and the classroom and fulfill this new requirement. With topics covering a variety of concepts such as building credit, saving and investing, the credit union’s workshops utilize engaging video content and include take home tools to ensure students are set up for future financial success.
“Partnering with Envision Credit Union to teach financial literacy helped make big concepts such as budgeting and choosing the right credit card easier for our students to understand,” said Christopher Warfel, from Godby High School in Tallahassee. “Students found the short videos entertaining and educational, providing the basics needed for them to have a good grasp of each topic.”
While Envision is specifically encouraging high school teachers to take advantage of these resources to fulfill the Workforce Education Bill requirements, the credit union is proud to offer free financial education workshops with customizable content that can be catered to community groups of all ages.
