August 12, 2019
Huron, SD – The South Dakota Central Chapter of Credit Unions participated in National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6 at Campbell Park in Huron. The annual event is organized by the Huron Police Department, and members of the public, businesses, and civic organizations are encouraged to participate.
During the event, the chapter handed out packets to youth which contained coloring and activity books titled, “A Trip to the Credit Union,” coloring crayons, and a Central Chapter brochure, listing and explaining each of the area credit unions in the Chapter. Participation in this event was made possible because of a grant provided by the Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas!
Volunteers for the event included: Tiffanie Kouf, Chapter President (M-O FCU); Jeanie King (M-O FCU); Gail Broer (M-O FCU); Shari Blue (Huron Area Education FCU); Lisa Snedeker, Chapter Vice President (Dakotaland FCU); and Shelby Gondzar (Dakota Rail Line FCU).
National Night Out is a campaign involving citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses and local officials that come together annually to make a city-wide block party, with food, informational booths, contests, demonstrations and various youth activities. The program is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.
