Credit Union Awards Scholarships to Students

shell Each year, Shell Federal Credit Union provides college financial assistance by awarding John Garrison Scholarships to deserving students. The application process begins each January and ends prior to spring break. In April, six students were awarded $2,500 scholarships to attend college, university, or vocational-technical school. The students below are the 2013 John Garrison Scholarship recipients and the college they will be attending in the fall. Garret Kneese University of Texas in San Antonio Kaitlin McNeill University of Texas in San Antonio Thanh Nguyen University of St. Thomas in Houston Mitchell Wilkinson Texas A&M University in College Station Alicia Nettles Texas A&M University in College Station Mandy Renfro University of Texas in Austin Since 2000, Shell FCU has awarded $170,000 in scholarships to 71 students. The John Garrison Scholarship Award was established in memory of John Garrison, a dedicated volunteer Shell FCU Board Member for over 50 years. His vision and volunteer spirit is still an inspiration to us all. Our hope is that applicants will embrace that same spirit and carry it forward into their own careers and beyond.
